usually i switch on my computer, go make a cup of coffee, then come back and start working, so i don’t see big advantage in making it boot up 10 secs faster

thanx for the tip anyway, i always love playing with regedit :)

It is there for a reason, I don’t think this will do any good on your computer, more likely make it unuseable in a matter of time.

installing the OS from a dedicated hardrive and the programs from another hardrive will increase speed. no matter how much programs u install, it wont affect the startup time bec. the OS has it’s own hard drive.. am i right?

  13. iBzRockyy - December 14, 2009 at 12:10 pm

    same thing. There’s no difference

    My start-up time didn’t change.

Due respect to PCWizKid, but this is Incorrect according to MS. If anything, reducing the delay will increase perceived boot time. The value controls timing for the indexing service. A value of only 40000 (40 seconds) may mean that the service will start *during* boot, which will appear to slow down the system.

I just disable the indexing service altogether :)

if it got slower, maybe you shouldnt change it to 40000 maybe something higher

  19. MiZzCoBrA83 - December 14, 2009 at 1:35 pm

wow very cool the start up speed was drastic…thanks :)

Playing around with the registry can cause loads of problems. Last time I did that winlogon.exe decided to consume vast amounts of my CPU from time to time.

  21. MrChezco1995 - December 14, 2009 at 3:23 pm

    because it will crash!!!

  22. conradragzoff - December 14, 2009 at 3:49 pm

setting mine to 40000 actually made mine start slower (Toshiba Satellite laptop, less than 3 years old, 2GB memory)… I’m going to raise the value slightly higher than that.

  23. tkw2003 - December 14, 2009 at 4:48 pm

There’s a reason but I don’t it works that way.

Will decreasing that value below 40000 cause any system errors?

  24. redballyou - December 14, 2009 at 5:18 pm

    why not put 0

  25. TheDussnax - December 14, 2009 at 6:11 pm
