This is a Windows XP Tweak. Visit PCWizKidsTechTalk.com – Tips and Tweaks Make Windows XP bootup faster with a quick registry tweak. The StartupDelay Controls the time delay after a system startup before Indexing Service. This tweak does not disable anything, it just removes the unnecessary wait time. Notes from video Navigate and expand in the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ContentIndex Change the Decimal value of the Startupdelay key to 40000 and restart the …

i see that you put 40000 on your value there
whats the LOWEST value taht you can put?
Lol dude It’s CurrentControlSet…
why not just 0 for delay?
soz like that on win it wont work u will have to change it to 40,000 then it will work probably
i clocked this
bootup difference to xp-logo 1second difference
to blue welcome-screen 3sec diff
to load all windows applications and ready to use 3sec diff.
value 40 000
usually i switch on my computer, go make a cup of coffee, then come back and start working, so i don’t see big advantage in making it boot up 10 secs faster
thanx for the tip anyway, i always love playing with regedit
ty it worked
i dont have control00007
please help!
It is there for a reason, I don’t think this will do any good on your computer, more likely make it unuseable in a matter of time.
i ve changed it to 100
but theres no difference
very usefull love it
installing the OS from a dedicated hardrive and the programs from another hardrive will increase speed. no matter how much programs u install, it wont affect the startup time bec. the OS has it’s own hard drive.. am i right?
same thing. There’s no difference
dont klick on the expand symbol click on the name
thanks ly -start-time chanse to 15 sec thanks
My start-up time didn’t change.
Due respect to PCWizKid, but this is Incorrect according to MS. If anything, reducing the delay will increase perceived boot time. The value controls timing for the indexing service. A value of only 40000 (40 seconds) may mean that the service will start *during* boot, which will appear to slow down the system.
I just disable the indexing service altogether
if it got slower, maybe you shouldnt change it to 40000 maybe something higher
wow very cool the start up speed was drastic…thanks
Playing around with the registry can cause loads of problems. Last time I did that winlogon.exe decided to consume vast amounts of my CPU from time to time.
because it will crash!!!
setting mine to 40000 actually made mine start slower (Toshiba Satellite laptop, less than 3 years old, 2GB memory)… I’m going to raise the value slightly higher than that.
There’s a reason but I don’t it works that way.
Will decreasing that value below 40000 cause any system errors?
why not put 0
i have put 38000> Start up 15sec faster ^____^
