Nobody can tell you the right answer since it has not been released yet. Some I guess have downloaded SL and as well developers aren't at liberty to speak about the product yet. So read the reviews in a few days. I find my safari is pretty fast. Which i don't even have turbo and im networked to 4 other devices. So as said above they are only as fast as your internet provider. I think it will be written in 64 bit which is reason for speed issues. I don't know though until friday. I used to use firefox but recently realized i can do without and use only one which is Safari. As again nobody can tell you significance of battery life using the legit copy of SL till friday.

Battery life on the new notebooks are very, very good. They last about 6-8 hours depending on there use and that is with a pretty high brightness. You probably won't see any different in battery life with Snow Leopard though. So don't worry about the battery life.
or some cool features and a video on Snow Leopard see this:

Now about Safari the only reason Apple proved it was fast and say's it was fast because they have a very, very, very fast internet connection with a router right near them too make it look super fast.

Safari in my opinon is just as fast as the competition so whatever interface you like better go with that.

Safari is quite slow compared to the other options available. I use Mozilla Firefox because it's so much faster. I have had friends recommend Camino as well, but I love Firefox.

Battery life on all MacBook Pros is excellent. The 13" and 15" models have a battery rated for 7 hours on a single charge. The 17" model is advertised as 8 hours, though I get about 6.5 of real use (Firefox, iTunes, Mail, Preview).

Battery life is excellent because the new monitors are LED instead of LCD. LED requires practically no power to stay bright.
