We all live a very routine life, a life that at times can be so boring that people are forced to watch movies starring nasal-playback-singers-wearing-a-cap- and performing-stunts-on-rickshaws. There are so many things you want to do — workout like Rocky Balboa and smile like Maverick; impress women and shoot gangsters like Bond. But to be honest, most of us are overweight, lazy, and incapable of deciding what to do on a weekend. So we choose the easy route and play games. But what if a game gives you all the “liberty” you wanted? I’m talking about the multi-million dollar game called Grand Theft Auto 4. This is the game that made most of us wait for years, the game that broke all existing entertainment records and created new ones that will take forever to equal.

A game about every vice that men can conjure — from stealing cars to getting lap dances — this is a game meant for a very mature audience. People criticize the game for its content and gameplay, which is justified as you can shoot cops and pick up prostitutes in the game. However, one has to look at the context of the content: this isn’t a game about Tommy going to school and becoming a bald banker;

it’s about the life of a gangster. What do you expect from such a context — a prayer at the start of the game and guidelines to safe driving at the end? This is a game about a hardcore criminal living his life in an NY spin-off called Liberty City. I agree that this game can have a bad influence on children, but so can daily news and Pamela Anderson.

It’s just something you grow up with and if you choose to become a drunken car thief, I believe a game is the last thing to blame. So, let’s stop this fuss over morality and read on to know about a game that is as funny as a George Bush speech and as dark as Frank Miller’s graphic novel Sin City.
